About us
Wings of Joanne is a 501(c)(3) certified Non Profit, Started by Caid Rivers, an Aplastic Anemia survivor and bone marrow recipient. The charity is named in honor of the woman who saved Caid's life by donating her bone marrow. Wings of Joanne aims to help kids deal with their time in the hospital by creating a community around gaming and virtual reality.
By using the latest in virtual reality, immersive reality, and other forms of immersive and console gaming, Wings of Joanne strives to re-instill a sense of play and fun in a sick child’s life. We know how difficult it can be to be sick and stuck in a room for long periods of time. That’s where the Gaming and Alternate Realities program (G.A.R.) comes into play. The idea here is to take the kids virtually “out of the room"!
